About the Artist
Biography of Barbara J.Taylor
Barbara received private lessons from her uncle, the renowned Montana artist, Robert Cantrell, when she was young and has just recently rediscovered her love for painting. She enjoys pushing the boundaries of contemporary art mediums, creating unique, ?sculpted', three dimensional art.
Not only do her pieces feature segments of her paintings that literally ?jump off the canvas' due to their highly dimensional qualities but she also incorporates glass, shells, metals and other objects in much of her work that add a uniqueness and interest to her art. She believes that texture adds excitement and drama and she also enjoys contrasting matte with gloss finishes.
Many of her pieces are frameable but she also creates paintings that have finished edges that need no additional framework. Paintings are not the only offerings of this talented artist. She has several pieces that are constructed incorporating pottery, fabric and special affects such as the authentic arrow featured in her "Broken Dreams" piece. Barbara also has an affinity for water and, indeed, many of her works feature the timeless energy of the sea, streams and rivers. Her paintings embody flow and power as well as peacefulness.
